Spicy pork
Classic family breakfast.
Classic family breakfast.
Ingredients for two people:
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 chilli pepper
- 2 pieces of pork shoulder chops
- 4 soup spoons of soy sauce (use Chinese spoon to measure)
- Olive oil for frying
- 3 eggs (optional)
- Rice
Jaron like this cut of meat because it's tender and has a bit of fat on it.
Preparation
- Cook the rice (2-3 cups) in rice cooker (takes an hour). When the rice cooker is done, cut a cross into the rice with the plastic spoon and then gently turn it over from the side of the bowl, making sure you reach down to the bottom of the bowl
- Chop the garlic (larger pieces OK)
- Chop the chilli and set aside (only add to pan at the very end)
- Cut off the bone from the meat (bone can be saved for soup)
- Slice the meat into pieces of 2-3 cm (see photo)
- Fry eggs in simple flat non-stick pan (break the yolk when frying and make sure it is fully cooked) (see photo)
- Remove eggs from pan and put on little plate, set aside (1 to share)
- Add more oil, fry garlic for 30 seconds, then add meat
- Fry on high heat (level 9) until browned
- Still on high heat, pour soy sauce over the meat, stir and let boil for a few seconds
- Remove from heat and add chilli
- Put meat in a bowl with most of the sauce (1 bowl to share)
- Pour a little of the leftover sauce over the eggs
- Serve rice in individual bowls, egg and meat to share
