The shape of home _Part 1
I recently rediscovered a file lay on my desktop which I stored a lot of photos about our previous apartment. I probably wanted to write a story about that 12 floor height ivory tower-house we had lived about 2 years during the pandemic time, but some reasons I completely forget to do it, and now it nearly another two years past !As funny as it sounds, some people buy their house in the same time like us, and renovated their house right away once they got the key. and two years later, now we finally decided to renovate our house, those people had managed sold that not long ago renovated house and buy another NEW one. I couldn't figure out weather we are too slow in building our living, or they are just too fast and very good at start new life.
Me and my husband had moved quite a few different places where we used to call it HOME. And every move we were hoping there will be a day we can finally stop moving, settle down somewhere, re-shaping a space little by little, gradually turning a place really belong us. A place full filled with things we love, and we want to be around with it for a very long period of time.
To follow that thought, I couldn't stop asking myself a question, what are those essentials components which can fertilized a lovingly life I truly want to live for long long time? When I reviewed these photos of our previous apartment. I remembered what I wanted in the first place, Its sort of creating an indoor mini amazon forest in the living room, to compensate the downside we dont have balcony or garden to be able to get close to the nature. and then I spent some more times using pintrest, try to figure out whats the suitable style which go well with our current furnitures. Turning out the Loft style is the best option. In such style we can remain our metal and wooden storage shelves, on top of that, had our metal / ex-carpenter designer friend Ben who customized us an organic shape of oak wood long dinning table, and get us a big brown leather L couch, final touched by hanging 2 industrial lamps from the ceiling. the basic layout of lofy style is done. And I am pretty sure that I elevate the lofy with a mini amazon forest grows inside our living room.
I really adored the space me and my husband created together in that ivory tower home, but do I love that much I want to continue the same esthetic to our current 3 stories height house, and have it forever ? that is something I would defiantly need to take a big amount of times to think about it. The lofy style is the time we tried to make up a living under some limitations as been a tenant. but the circumstance had been change since we moved into our own property. I think I want something else now. with less restrictions of reality, I want myself practicing to have more, dare to dream, before compromise something try to not compromise. What I mean is certainly not greedy.
If I need to throw an example here to get my thought straight, try to picturing me going to grocery shopping in the Netherlands. here we only got two big supermarket chains in this country, either I go Jumbo, or Albert Hijn . But what if today we have American Costco, Japanese OK market, French monoprix , UK's Marks and Spencer, Taiwanese Pxmart, Korean emart ....etc ...they all open stores in this town I lived. When the options become available, I couldn't find a reason only still go shopping in AH or Jumbo supermarket just because I need to remain only ONE style for my daily.
Okay.. I dont think I could make any conclusion for this topic now. so Its wise I continue this subject when our new house renovation is finished in certain level.oh! dont forget to be flexible !
